Process MemoStarting this project, I have to be honest and say I didn’t know what to expect. After recognizing how the different pieces would work together for for the grander picture it was apparent that there were processes to my writing and how the different stages of effective writing were present.
This individual writing project was a way for me to recognize inefficient consistencies in the way I wrote. With any written project you have to go through a series of states to make sure that the message you wanted to convey was received. As many letters as I have written, it was embarrassing to see the faults in my writing. The difficulties included staying away from “cliché” writing, turning a negative statement into a positive one, and that a message does not have to be indirect to be received. This exercise enabled me to understand the concept of the reaction of the audience better based on the written word. It is interesting how the smallest of words or lack of words could induce a certain reaction and given the right tools you can expect a positive response if you take the time to utilize them to your advantage. The process memo measures your ability to plan, creating an understanding of your audience, establishing your credibility, and really paying attention to your sentences and their meanings. |

Opportunity Assessment ReportPrior to this project the term group project meant, another negative experience. I am thankful that this was not the case for this project, because I actually enjoyed this project. I often find that member of a group project are too afraid to voice their thoughts and result in some disorganization. This projected was completed over the course of one week in an online classroom setting.
It taught me that all group work doesn’t end in disaster. That there was no need to prejudge anyone and that really we were all on the same page. I feel that it was because we had a common goal that we were able to work together. We didn’t have a disagreement once and if we did we didn’t say anything about it. After this project I don’t think I will be as apprehensive about a group project again. It also gave me some great insight on some courses that I had not considered before. If I had one more semester to do what I liked I would take three of the classes that we researched. |

King Leopolds GhostI read King Leopold’s Ghost for my HST309 "Exploration and Empire" course. It was really interesting book with some insight into the history of the Congo in the late 19th and early 20th century. Our assignment was to summarize the complex texts concisely and engaging in the thought process of distinguishing what was the most important and relevant material from the book. In doing so we were to demonstrate an accurate and advanced understanding of the reading and responds to questions presented for the essay.
I am glad that I was able to take the opportunity to read this book, and have since recommended it to a few people for leisure reading. Although there is nothing leisure about the subject matter in the book. The essay I present gives you a great understand of what the book is about and highlights important information that I feel people should know about history. |

Product ReportThis project was one of the hardest projects I’ve ever had to do alone. My MKT300 “Marketing and Business Performance” class in the spring 2012 semester called for a product report. The product of our choice, which I felt couldn’t be any easier.
I chose the 2012 Mercedes Benz C63 Sedan and Coupe. The research helped me understand how much work goes into the marketing aspect of a product. It taught me how to search thoroughly in to find relevant information. I found it difficult to find how this product was marketed, which included the following:
Even after you have thought you covered all your bases there is always something extra that you do or find that will can give your writing, presentation, report, etc solid credibility.
